Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation Mr. K.D. Lalkantha participated in a special discussion regarding the currently operational ‘Bim Saviya’ program today (24th ) at the Ministry of Agriculture.
During the discussion, shortcomings existing in the ‘Bim Saviya’ program were pointed out. The importance of bringing the documents provided through the ‘Bim Saviya’ program to a state where they are accepted when obtaining a bank loan through a bank was emphasized here. Although what was expected from implementing the ‘Bim Saviya’ program was to bring about rapid development in the country, it should be reconsidered whether proper results are being obtained from it. It was pointed out that mainly, the failure to implement this program within a definite methodology and the ignorance of certain officers regarding this program has caused the ‘Bim Saviya’ program not to function properly.
The surveyors' association, which attended this occasion, raised the need to develop an information system regarding lands. Also, another proposal presented at this occasion was that a special tribunal should be established for land title clearing.
Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation Mr. D.P. Wickramasinghe and officers related to the ‘Bim Saviya’ program participated in this occasion.
