Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation K.D. Lalkantha recently inspected the government grain warehouse located in Buttala. During this visit, the Minister examined the grain stocks in the warehouse and also engaged in a friendly discussion with its staff.
During this inspection, the Minister held a discussion with the officials in charge of the warehouses about how much grain quantity had been accumulated and the possibility of creating a rice problem in the country due to such accumulation, as well as the possibility of creating a problem regarding maize. He also examined the warehouses while inquiring about data reports.
The Minister stated to the officials that government intervention would be available in the future to maintain the institution through proper procedures as well as to systematically carry out its maintenance work, and the officials expressed their agreement regarding all those matters.
