Yala National Park recorded high income from 23.12.2022 to 02.01.2023

The Department of Wildlife Conservation states that a large number of tourists visited Yala National Park during the period from 23 December 2022 to 02 January 2023.

The Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Mr.Chandana Sooriyabandara visited the Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday (o2) evening and informed the Minister that the Department of Wildlife Conservation had earned huge income during the said period.

The highest income which was earned by Yala National Park had been recorded yesterday (02). An income of Rs.11,264,179.10 was earned only in yesterday.

An income of Rs.3,940,487 was generated on 23.12.2022 whilst a sum of Rs.4,136,654 on 24^th, Rs.4,298,032 on 25^th, Rs.5,011,064 on 26^th, Rs.6,476,505 on 27^th, RS.8,190,277 on 28^th, Rs.6,973,495 on 29^th, Rs.8,056,954 on 30^th and Rs.5,282,070 on 31^st has been recorded.

Moreover, Yala National Park alone generated the highest income so far received as Rs.4,708,450 on 01^st January this year and Rs.11,264,179.10 on 2^nd January.

The Director General informed the Minister that currently, a massive number of foreign tourists have visited the Southern Province of Sri Lanka and the majority of them daily visit Yala national Park to see animals.

It was decided at the discussion held yesterday (02) to initiate a programme to generate dollars required by the country based on National Parks during the next two weeks.
