The Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation emphasizes that it is not involved in any way in the importation of cattle species called ‘Gavara’ in to Sri Lanka

Various views are being expressed through media and social media that action has been taken to import and release cattle species call ‘Gavara’ into jungles of this country.

The truth of this news was enquired from Mrs. Herath, Secretary of the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation, Dept. of Wildlife and the Dept. of National Zoological Gardens today (19).

According to the Secretary, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation neither any individual nor any organization has inquired from the Ministry so far in this matter. The Director Generals of both these Departments refuse the allegation raised through media.

Mrs. Chandra Herath Secretary, Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resource Conservation stresses that Dept. of Wildlife and Forest Resources hasn’t any involvement in the importation of “Gavera” to Sri Lanka.
