The highest income received in one day of the year by all Zoological Gardens including the Zoological Garden, Dehiwela records on the World Children’s Day.

The Zoological Garden, Dehiwela records the highest income earned in one day of this year – i.e. on October 01 being the World Children’s Day.

Accordingly, the total income earned on that day by Zoological Garden, Dehiwela amounted to Rs.50,80,377.

The Department of Zoological Gardens yesterday (04) informed the Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Mahinda Amaraweera, that apart from the Zoological Garden, Dehiwala all the other Zoological Gardens have recorded the highest income received during a single day.

Accordingly, the Elephant Protection Centre, Pinnawala has earned an income of Rs.9,47,000, Zoological Garden, Pinnawala Rs.9,49,200 and Safari Garden, Rediyagama Rs.8,56,000.

Mr.Thilak Premakantha, Director General of the Dept. of Zoological Gardens said that the institution was able to earn such a highest income even though permission was given for both children and elders to visit the zoo free of charge in view of the World Children’s Day.

The Minister instructed authorities to take meaningful steps to formulate creative programmes to promote people’s attraction on future World Children’s Days and National Days.
