These projects, which were started several years ago under the Department of Agriculture, operate in areas such as Rajanganaya and Vavuniya while many projects have been completed.
There are also projects that are still being carried out. A team including Minister K.D. Lalkantha, Deputy Minister Susil Ranasinghe, the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Project Director participated to observe how the investments received by the country through these projects and the contribution received for the advancement of the country's agriculture industry.
The Minister made a special statement to the media on this occasion.
When it comes to projects in our country, what emerges is not a beautiful picture. There are unsuccessful ones among these. There are successful ones. There has been massive mismanagement in these. Money has been misused. Among these, there are certain projects that farmers can continue. We have sat in the ministry and looked at some of them in pictures.There are unsuccessful ones among them. This banana project is a successful project. Earlier there were some projects where farmers had to be subordinated to multinational companies. The country's lands have been given away.
We try to see the effectiveness of these projects and also to see the good and bad. The purpose of this visit is to identify negative aspects and eliminate them.
