
Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation K.D. Lalkantha recently joined an inspection tour of the Department of Export Agriculture.
During this, the Minister's attention was focused on the responsibilities, progress and future programs of the Department of Export Agriculture.
It was pointed out that the goals to be achieved within the next five years by the Department of Export Agriculture include: promoting sustainable agricultural practices and increasing the export volume of export agricultural crops by increasing production and productivity, improving export quantity and quality, increasing export income by adding value and expanding market promotion programs, building the capacity of stakeholders in the export agricultural crops sector and strengthening the legal framework for agricultural crop exports.
After the inspection tour, the Minister expressed his views. He mentioned that he would provide the necessary support as Minister to successfully carry out the relevant functions of the Department of Export Agriculture. The Minister, pointing out that the effective utilization of funds allocated through the budget is a major challenge this time, further mentioned that since 6 months of the year have already passed, only 3 projects could be implemented through which all functions of the Department of Export Agriculture could be covered.
The Minister pointed out that the money allocated through the budget should be spent in a way that inspires the people, and that the economy expands through the transmission of that money to society. The Minister emphasized that economic growth increases through this process.
