
“Cultivation cluster villages” program to strengthenthe economic status of the farmers and thereby building up Sri Lanka as a self-sufficient country under the ‘Prosperity Vision’ of His Excellency the President was launched on 29.08.2020 (today) at Nawalapitiya Aluthgama Village under the patronage of Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Minister of Agriculture.
Under this program, seeds will be produced with a view of cultivating healthy crops in each and every village where highly yield could be possibly harvested by using advanced technologies, and such seeds are to be supplied into local and foreign markets. As the first step, it has been planned to make 500 families participated in this program.
All supports such as seeds, technology, financial assistance required to this task including necessary human resources in order to monitor overall activities will be provided by the government. With this, a huge development can be expected in farmingvillages. Under this task, it is expected to enhance the economic status of the farmers and make Sri Lanka as a self-sufficient country.
The Director General of Agriculture, Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Director General of the Department of Exports Crops and huge crowds attended in this event.
