Even though the 44/1 paddy variety which is cultivated by the farmers in Eastern province including Ampara, Batticaloa has gained a higher yield, members of parliament have emphasized that the farmers have been facing a problematic situation unable to sell the said paddy at the Advisory committee on agriculture held at parliament premises today (09).

The water level of the Udawalawe reservoir is decreased to 2% from the effects of severe drought at present. Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera Hon.
