Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera Hon. Minister of Agriculture has instructed Department of Agriculture to explain the policy of Department of Agriculture regarding the variety of paddy cultivated by the farmers in Eastern province including Ampara and Batticaloa

Even though the 44/1 paddy variety which is cultivated by the farmers in Eastern province including Ampara, Batticaloa has gained a higher yield, members of parliament have emphasized that the farmers have been facing a problematic situation unable to sell the said paddy at the Advisory committee on agriculture held at parliament premises today (09).

Gannoruwa Agro Technology Park will be open until Saturday (05).

Gannoruwa Agro Technology Park is open for public display by Department of Agriculture these days. Activities at the exhibition premises have been organized to be able to gain a wide understanding on Agro Technology specifically for farmers and school children. It has been prepared to gain a higher knowledge regarding agriculture.

Farmers in Monaragala have helped the farmers in Udawalawe

The water level of the Udawalawe reservoir is decreased to 2% from the effects of severe drought at present. Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera Hon. Minister of Agriculture has mentioned that 65,000 acres of paddy fields harvested in Yala season under the Udawalawe reservoir are at a risk of damage by yesterday (01) due to this.
