The amount of liquid milk used daily by Milco (Pvt) Ltd for its products had fallen to 65,000 liters due to administrative weaknesses in the past.
Generally, the company's daily liquid milk target is 120,000 liters. This amount had decreased by 50 percent, and steps were taken by the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mahinda Amaraweera, to resolve the administrative issues within the company.
Accordingly, the company has now managed to exceed 140,000 liters of liquid milk used daily for milk-based products, according to the new chairman of Milco (Pvt) Ltd, Indika Gurugé.
Indika Gurugé has submitted a report on the increase in production capacity of Milco (Pvt) Ltd to the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mahinda Amaraweera.
As a result, Milco (Pvt) Ltd currently has a stockpile of 80 metric tons of Highland milk powder. In the past, the production of milk powder by Milco (Pvt) Ltd had completely stopped.
Currently, the production capacity of Highland ice cream and yogurt has also been increased.
