The first-round table discussion started today (19), starting the 37th Asia and Pacific Regional Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
This discussion round was chaired by Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries.
The theme of this first roundtable discussion is 'Achieving Sustainable Goals through Innovation and Science in Fisheries and Livestock Development in the Asia-Pacific Region'.
The inauguration of the 37th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference is scheduled to be held tomorrow (20) under the chairmanship of the Honorable President Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe. And it is special that the representatives of 35 out of 42 countries have participated so far.

The 37th Asia Pacific Regional Conference which started today at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo will be held until the 22nd of this month.
More than 300 participants including government officials as well as Agriculture Ministers, Deputy Ministers from many countries in the Asia Pacific region have participated.
