The 37th Asia Pacific Regional Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has been arranged to be held in February next year in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera Hon. Minister of Agriculture says that the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been granted to the Cabinet paper forwarded by him to get the approval of Cabinet of Ministers for providing government support in holding this conference in our country.
After many years, i.e. during the time period of the last Easter attack, the Covid pandemic situation and the economic crisis that affected the country, no International Conference has been held in this country in which representatives of a large number of countries participate.
Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera Hon. Minister of Agriculture has instructed the officials of the Ministry yesterday (28) to arrange for the UNFAO - Asia Pacific Regional Conference to be held at the highest level in our country.
The Minister has also mentioned that more than 2000 delegates from 44 countries are expected to participate in this conference.
