It is expected to establish Model Villages as a mechanism to disseminate research out comes generated by institutions involved in Agriculture among the farmer community through which it has been possible to find solution to their various agriculture-related problems.
The objective of this novel concept is to demonstrate new technologies from crop production stage up to the consumption for the benefit of farmers where by increasing rural sector contribution towards the establishment of food and nutrition security and educate the farmer community towards conservation of natural resource to the maximum possible level.
These Model Villages are established by organizing farmers as groups, and awareness programme demonstrating new technologies available for increasing productivity, minimization of pre/post harvest losses, conservation of natural resources, cultivation of higher-yielding crop verities are implemented within those villages. Accordingly it is expected to disseminate these new technologies easily among other farmers.
The necessary allocations for implementing this programme are provided from Api Wawamu-Rata Nagamu Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture. Accordingly a provision Rs. 50 mn. has been allocated for this year.
