The Minister of Agriculture looking into grievances of the people

Podujana Eksath Peramuna Leader, Kandy district and Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage engaged in an inspection tour on last 28th to look into possibility of taking remedial measures  to minimize  difficulties faced by the people in various areas in Kandy.

At the tour he observed the damage caused by heavy rain to plant nurseries of tea cultivators of Athpalagoda, Udunuwara. They pointed out to the Minister that then plants are being frequently destroyed due to the overflowing of the dilapidated canal flowing across Athpalagoda where around 150 tea plant necessary owners are living. The Minister having discussed with Agrarian Development Officers took instant measure to allocate a provision  of Rs.3.0 Million for restoring the canal.

The Minister visited Nawalapitiya town and instructed officials to take early measures to rehabilitate ditch system in the left side of Nawalapitiya to prevent the overflowing rainy water in the Nawalapitiya town. Officials of the Mahaweli Authority, Low Land Development Authority along with Official of the Railway Development had joined the Minister in this official tour.

The Minister also discussed with relevant officials on the possibility of recommencing constructions of Moragolla Power House, the work of which have been temporarily suspended due to outbreak of Covid Pandomic.

The handing over of a newly constructed house build under “One House for one Village” Programme 0f the Government Policy Statement, to Mrs. Nilmini Priyadharshani of Gampolawala Grama Niladhari Division was taken place at the hand of Minister.
