Measures have been taken by the Small Holder Agri Enterprises Participatary Project (SAPP) operating under the Ministry of Agriculture to enhance living condition of 500 families in the Anuradhapura district.
Accordingly, financial assistance amounting to Rs.78 million will be offered to those families to start village poultry farming. Consultation and modern technology required for undertaking of livestock Production will also offered to them under the same package. The livestock farm being operated under this project in WalawaHangunuWewa of Madawachchiya was inspected by Ministers MahindanandaAluthgamage and S.M.Chandrasena. At this observation tour, Minister MahindanandaAluthgamage instructed officials of the project to open milk. collecting and distribution network in the area with the twin objective of solving people’s problems and to protect the farmers from middleman’s interference whereby offering them a fair price for their production. Financial assistance of Rs.75,000 and a loan assistance of Rs.40,000 at low interest rate will be given to each family.
