Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation, and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister P. Harrison at a discussion held at Milco Production at Digana Factory instructed the officials to increase Milco and Highland products to meet the demand during the coming festive season.
Accordingly he instructed them to further promote collection process and enhance daily production of ice cream and yoghurt by twenty thousand.
Amidst the problem associated with the imported milk powder, demand for Milco and Highland production has increased considerably creating a shortage in the local market. With the prevailing dry weather condition daily supply of fresh milk has gone down up to 0.1 Mn Liter while Ambewela factory is in need of 0.4 Mn Liters of milk.
A production target has been given to each collecting officer during these months and legal action would be taken against officers who are not fulfilling the prescribed target.
Several Board Members including the Chairman Milco Company Ltd. Keerthi Mihiripenna also attend the occation.
