Foundation stones were laid for 11 bridges for the electorate of Anuradhapura west at the hands of P.Harrison ,Minister of Agriculture , Rural Economic Affairs ,Livestock Development , Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development .
Olu wewa in Nochchiyagama will be constructed at a cost of Rs.45 Mn under Rural Bridge Construction project for the benefit of residents in Halmillakulama, Nochchiyagama,Amunukole, Ihala Ketithekkuwa , Jayagama and Nuwaragama.
Under this project a new bridge will be constructed in close proximity to stone Bridge constructed during the period of ancient kings for gaining access to Saliyapura,Paniyankadawala and Puwasankulama village. The construction cost is Rs.70.0Mn. Atamasthanadhipathi Most Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera was also present on the occasion of commencing constructions.
Under the same Rural Bridge costruction project , the construction work of the three bridges- Saliyapura Pahalagama Bridge, Eight Mile Post Bridge and Ashokapura thuneela bridge were also in progress. At the same time foundation stones were also laid for Nisala Mawatha new bridge and construction of the road leading to Bandara – Puliyankulama paddy cultivating area in the extent of 100 area of paddy lands.
